Blog Tour - Stripped (Travesty #2) by Piper Lawson - Giveaway and Guest Post: Why imperfect and mundane makes for epic romance

Synopsis:

Ava Cameron has stars in her eyes. When the feisty designer moves to NYC after graduation with her best friend, things are finally clicking into place.

But now their brand new label, Travesty, is under attack.

The man leading the charge is the hottest hookup Ava ever had. One she never wanted to see again...

Nate Townsend might be from the right schools, the right neighborhood and the right family. But under the surface, his scars run deep.

When the society prince and the loud designer come face to face on a case that could decide Ava's future, sparks fly.

Nate's not about to let Ava forget she's the only person who knows his secrets. And Ava’s walking the line between getting Travesty back on track and being dragged into the gutter by one stubborn young lawyer planning to take her down.

If Nate Townsend didn’t make the gutter look so damn good...

Why imperfect and mundane makes for epic romance

One of the best compliments I get over and over from readers is: I love how your characters are so imperfect. This is my favorite thing to read, and it’s one of the reasons I started writing! A lot of the romance stories feature some hero who leaps tall buildings in a single bound (or makes ten zillion bucks a day without ever lifting a finger, or is a pro athlete thanks to his God-given ability) and has some teeny tiny flaw the heroine remarkably fixes in him.

I love creating heroes that aren’t perfect. That are closer to real guys.

With Dylan (in Schooled) and Nate (in Stripped), we get some of the usual stuff – sure they’re good looking and charming in their own way. But there are a lot of layers and insecurities. That’s what real guys have, and I think there’s more than enough room in romance for characters like that!

I also like taking everyday moments and giving them life and meaning. Sure, it’s exciting to read about characters on holiday in the Bahamas, or movie stars living the high life. Admittedly, Lex and Ava are trying to become successful designers, but what I try to show through their stories are the ‘real’ moments – the anxieties, the pressures, the struggles. It’s not about money or fame. It’s about trying to do something meaningful, and be true to themselves at the same time.

I hope you enjoy reading the book as much as I enjoyed writing it! I’d love to hear from you.

Piper Lawson Bio:

I love reading and writing stories about sassy, sexy, smart girls and the guys who fall hard for them. My main household expenditures include books, shoes, and chocolate, not necessarily in that order. Coffee = life (and I’ll defend it accordingly, especially when cornered). I have two business degrees, neither of which I’ve managed to turn into a fashion label (boo).

Home is Canada plus sunny winter escapes.
